THIS IS A NON-DENOMINATIONAL AND A FREE INITIATIVE

Hello and welcome to Mountabord !
MOUNTABORD fasting, proposes to all worshippers to grow accustomed to fasting before it becomes inevitable in a near future. Every day brings us opportunities to awaken to the grace of God.
Traditionally, fasting has played an important role in the history of God's people. However, it seems that this part of our faith has slowly been lost and became obsolete in our fast-paced western world. We've adopted and encouraged more high profile practices, with less emphasis on self-denial, perhaps at the expense of what is more at the root of pure and simple belief.
We may wonder what is essential, to be more pleasing in the eyes of God, versus being more acceptable in the eye of our fellow men and women. True freedom exists when the individual who has attained a spiritual maturity through discipline; within the reach of all believers and surviving various adaptations through the ages.
The aim of the biblical fasting is to forget for a while about all the distractions and idolatry that move us away from a more immediate awareness of our Creator. Fasting allows us to remember our sins and to confess them. Fasting may be done either as an individual or as a group effort. It is more than a practice -- it is a way to detach our hearts from the world and cleanse our minds for a more intimate meeting with God who wishes to reveal his nearness.
❝ Wherefore have we fasted, and Thou seest not? Wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and Thou takest no knowledge?'--Behold, in the day of your fast ye pursue your business, and exact all your labours. ❞
Isaiah - Chapter 58.3

Fasting offers a glimpse of ANOTHER REALITY if it is perceived and practiced with humility.
An essential tool, it allows us to identify our spiritual itinerary to consolidate our bond with God and men to "give back" the first place, as soon as the sacrifice is made. Let us ask what stands in the way of our spiritual warfare.
We may think we should have special reasons for fasting.
The reasons for fasting are multiple, and are just as many questions of the faster, whether it is a question of resolving a worrying situation; to seek discernment; to protect ourselves against demonic grips or other antagonisms, of which we are often the authors. Fasting generates freedom.
The power of fasting lies not only in voluntary deprivation but also and above all in the constancy of the relationship that has been established with God.
Fasting allows us to regain strength internally, to understand and triumph, to make us a radiant people, if it were possible to find and push this door.
I propose fasting for a day for a person in need.
❝ And the broad places of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the broad places thereof ❞
Zachariah - Chapitre 8.5

How to participate?
NOTE : The Biblical fasting is not to be confused with a medical diet, hunger strikes, or any other food restrictions for aesthetic matters. This network has absolutely no connection with "The Four Seasons" fasting.
About food fasts: do NEVER deprive your body of fluid, or more than a day - medical advice desired.
Fasting would not be complete without prayer and meditation on the Sacred Scriptures. Originally, fasting was mainly a food deprivation (privation). Today, we may extend it to other kinds of sacrifices -- tobacco, alcohol, music, make-up, television, internet, mobile, etc. For a non-food fast: why not light your first cigarette as late as possible?
Before any firm decision, one should pray or think about to decide what form of fasting would be the most appropriate and beneficial. Tabor, the fasting place proposes to the neophyte to fast at least, one or some days per year or a day per term, in a first time. And those who would like to experience more intense benefits.
The power of fasting lays freeing our spirit and heightening our relationship with Our Lord. We fast to regain our strength and confidence, to enhance our perception of what is the best for each of us, to triumph over adversity and to encourage us to become God's priestly-people, his chosen friends.
Fasting is truly a power and this world needs volunteers and courage. And above all: do not allow yourself to be deprived of your precious free will!
